Trivial (2024) Portuguese pink marble: H. 28.5 cm. – 11.2 in.

Trivial offers overlapping profiles between figuration and abstraction, creating an oscillation between recognition and ambiguity. In carving this piece, I worked through the method of direct carving (taille directe), approaching the block of Portuguese pink marble without preparatory models or mechanical mediation. This process allows the form to emerge through a dialogue with the material itself—its resistances, its veins, and its possibilities—rather than from a predetermined design.
